Belt Making

Buckle up for Belt Making with Reverse Garbage QLD! In this workshop, learn how to handcraft a belt using sustainably sourced leather offcuts + salvaged materials, while also learning new techniques along the way.

Our facilitators will teach you the basics of working with leather including basic pattern making, tool use, and joining using saddle stitch, as well as decorative features such as embossing, riveting and studding, all while emphasising the importance of reducing waste and repurposing materials, particularly leather. If leather's not your thing, we will also show you how to make a belt from salvaged synthetic woven straps.

With full access to our treasure trove of reuse materials, participants will leave the workshop with the knowledge and skills to continue belt making at home!

This workshop is suitable for ages 13+ and adults.  Beginners welcome, all tools and materials provided, and a light morning tea will also be served.
