Workshop Facilitator - Casual - September 2026

Woolloongabba, Australia

Position Description

Environmental Arts Workshop Facilitator

Casual Position

Are you passionate about sustainability and waste reduction? Do you consider yourself a creative but organised, hands-on person, who can communicate clearly and enjoys working with groups of people, particularly young people?

We are currently seeking someone to join our Workshops team and help to deliver our signature ‘Eco-Art’ workshops around the Greater Brisbane area.

This is a casual position with frequency of engagements determined by workshop demand.  This is typically high during school holiday periods (so availability during these times is important), low in February, and steady throughout the remainder of the year.  We anticipate it to average out at 1 to 2 days per week over the calendar year.

The position involves driving the workshop van (an automatic EV) and delivering workshops at schools, early learning centres, community groups and festivals.  Other tasks include:

    • Material preparation and packing for the workshops.

    • Keeping the workshop space, tools and consumables in a tidy and functional state.

    • Participating in Workshop team and program development meetings.

Experience running art/craft workshops is preferred, though training on how to facilitate our particular brand of workshops will be provided.  We are looking for someone who is capable of working on their own, but also enjoys working as part of a team and has a flexible, adaptable approach to their work.

Selection Criteria:

Essential skills/experience:

    • Ability to deliver a diverse range of art and craft based workshops to groups of people, including young children, teenagers and adults.

    • Interest in, and understanding of, issues surrounding waste, resource use and sustainability.

    • Good team working and group management skills.

    • Good organisational skills.

    • Good verbal and written communication skills.

    • Good computer operation and web skills (our organisational systems are highly web based).

    • Current blue card for working with children, or eligibility to obtain a blue card.

    • Current  driver's licence and clean driving record for at least 5 years.

    • Interest in and willingness to participate in the development of new workshop ideas and techniques.

Preferred but not essential skills:

    • Knowledge of the The Australian Curriculum in Queensland Schools and Early Years Curriculum Guidelines.

    • Workplace experience in early childhood and school environments.

    • Experience working in a co-operative, collective or community based organisation.

Remuneration:  The base wage rate is $34.76 per hour and is based on the general retail industry award.
